Yes it was.. that chip on.. was it 16? The one that was about ten feet away, took a turn and rolled right in.. just before stopping on the lip and then falling.. was amazing.

Re: The Tiger is BACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Amazing win, I think that shot on 16 is guaranteed shot of the year! I think this is a very important win for Tiger as far as getting his major quest back on track is concerned. He is swinging the club the best I have seen for a long while, ok there were a couple that got away from him when he got a little quick, but all in all an extremely impressive performance. One thing I notice as well is that he seems to have gained back a lot of distance in his shots (especially the drives), did anyone else notice this?

345 on the first hole convinced me...yes. Average all tournament was 292..and 3rd overall on PGA, he is definatly back hitting it longer.

Re: The Tiger is BACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think theres some overreaction here, he seemed to try his best to bottle it, with a 5,5 finish, and he had ggod luck all week with shots out of the trees, I was gutted for DiMarco when neither of his chips dropped, that was a great finish. Only a little dissapointed that the big for battle failed to materialise.

Well, if DiMarco didn't choke, my prediction would have come true (no top 5 player wins the Masters).

Yes, that chip shot was unbelievable.

Re: The Tiger is BACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's tough calling coming from 3 behind Tiger to tie on the final round, at the Masters no less, choking. If anyone choked, it was Tiger, but he managed to get the bird on the playoff. Tiger's Sunday round was ho-hum at best. Outdriving Dimarco the way he was he should have posted much lower than a 71. Other than the shot he holed out on 16, there was no excitement from his play. And it was just a chip in - how many where there all tourney? 8? Poulter's sand shot that he holed on Sunday was a much better shot, just less dramatic.

Re: The Tiger is BACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry - I meant the choke was dropping the huge lead.

Yes - his final round was fantastic - showing great tenacity. But he was WAY out in front, and didn't stay there.

Re: The Tiger is BACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Fairs Fair lads, the chip on 16 was inside a foot or it was 20 feet away just the way the green is. I dont know why they didnt swap the first day and last day pin positions on 16 the place it was sitting on round one was far harder than the one on the last day....adds to the drama though.

Tiger never really went away either. He rebuilt his swing just like he did in 98 and it took him a season to get stronger, this time its taken 2 and to be fair the rest of the tour has upped it's game as well in the meantime.

Hat's off to DiMarco, though, never met the man but I have never had a great impression of him. He strikes me as a bit of a tool to be honest especially after all the fist pumping and such at the Ryder Cup (albeit he was the only one on the US Team that seemed to give a damn about it). He speaks his mind though and has proven himself to be a top quality player, the kind the US tour doesnt throw up often enough, someone not afraid to call a spade a spade and secure in his own opinion, very refreshing after the very dull, over scripted automatons out there in the dozens.

I was just chuckling at the thought of Mickleson gagging at having to drape the old Green Jacket over Tiger's shoulders.

One thing though, how much do you think CBS got paid to focus on Tigers ball when it went in at 16, Nike Swoosh and all. And how much do you think they will get for replaying it over and over and over again......it's a feckin Bridgestone B333 ball as well with a Nike stamp...hey ho the truth never got anyone anywhere did it?

Well done Tiger, I think he has to be a shoe in for The Open as well, St Andrews will let him away with that type of driving all week long. Someone will have to remind me of wether or not Pinhurst is Tiger friendly or not though. He really could do with getting that second Open to complete 2 career slams.
I liked what they said on Golf Central:

'If Tiger does the slam that will take him past Hagen in major wins'

I like their optimism but he wont do it this year.

Re: The Tiger is BACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Darryl, I'm with yuo on not being a Dimarco fan - there is just something about him that makes me want to scream. I think a big portion of it is his stupid claw putting grip. Another is the blank expression on his face all the time. No smile, no scowl, no look of determination.

I am disappointed that Tiget won. Don't get me wrong, I think Tiger is a great golfer, a great person, a great spokesperson for the game of golf. His 2nd and 3rd rounds were two of the best ever at the Masters, so he deserved the win.

Why I don't want Tiger to win is because of the media. When he wins the media discredits every other player on the tour and they phrase it so that it's as if Tiger has to be playing poorly and the others have to be playing exceptional for anyone BUT Tiger to win. It's unfair to Tiger to put that much expectation on him and unfair to the other tour members to degrade their skill and ability.

Re: The Tiger is BACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

True Gord, I have another point about the Tiger/Media thing.

10/10 interviews with players after their rounds involved a question about Tiger, in almost half of them the question was the first one asked!!!!

I could almost see the weariness come through on Darren Clarke's face when he was asked a question about Tiger it was very much a

'I just completed 72 holes on one of the toughest courses we play on and I have to answer questions about someone else!!'

kind of look, dont you think?

All credit to Tiger, though, he has started treating some of the more silly, fawning questions he gets asked with the contempt they deserve. Hopefully the media will stop asking him the same stupid questions.

Re: The Tiger is BACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Someone mentioned DiMarcos lack of emotion, weeeell, apart from that chip-in on 16 (WHEN HE ACTED AS IF HE'D WON) Tiger didn't smile the whole way through the tourney as I saw.

DMs putting grip- whatever floats your boat, I'd use it if it made me put like him.

"Definately the best shot of the year" Immelmanns on 16 was better...
Tiger for the grand slam? lol, the way he bottled and choked if there was another big four/five on his ass I would't rate his chances, 5/5 finish he got cocky and thought he had it won, and whats with his mom and red, grow up a bit "its the colour of power" oooh, impressive!

Re: The Tiger is BACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

lol tiger bottled and choked..he didnt jus have two bogeys on 2 tough holes? He would lose against the top 5...seem to remember him goin 1 on 1 with mickelson earlier on in the year and winnin. Hes gainin confidence i think. Did mickelson choke with his double bogeys in his back 9? Na he jus done what all golfers do, had some bad holes. And Tiger really cant help what the media ask can he..... The masters was quality tho, but bring on the open

C'MON THE MONTY FOR THE OPEN!!!!!!!!! Al be there
