Master's TV Coverage

I know the Master's ended up being a 2 horse race, but did we really need to see their every move. I would have liked to seen a few more shots from other players.

Re: Master's TV Coverage

I have to agree with this it was like a matchplay competition, the only time they showed someone else, they were putting of a one off good shot.

But hey thats the BBC for you, Think yourself lucky we in the UK got three hours per night and four on the final day.

Ian.

Re: Master's TV Coverage

2 reasons:

#1: It was Tiger
#2: It's what everyone in the US wanted to see

What was so great about it was that you got to see every hole, every shot, every part of the final match that really mattered. If they spread it out equally among the other players, you would see maybe 2 holes of the final group. So, it was in my opinion, the best way to spend 5 hours watching TV I could have imagined. Showing the best player in the world playing the best golf course in the world in the best field of the world in the best tournament "to watch" -- hands down...4 miutes of commercials per every hour? Just golf heaven.

This of course is all subjective based on your region of origin and nationality. I would have loved to see if say, it was Mickel or Els playing against Tiger, but you can't have everything.

Re: Master's TV Coverage

Yea its the Tiger Woods show most of the time on US TV. Thats just the way it is, its all about the ratings, occasionally you will get the John Daly circus or maybe Phil if he's on a roll.

We in the UK take the BBC for granted, they have no such coimmitments and can screen whatever they want. I think it's a travesty that we all just sat here and let Sky steal the golf from the BBC without a complaint and the BBC were just as bad for not making more of an effort to keep it. I applaud the R&A for sticking with the BBC but eventually Mr Murdochs seemingly bottomless pockets will wrest the Open away from the Beeb, a dark day indeed awaits....

Re: Master's TV Coverage

Does anybody know how I might go about finding a copy of CBS's coverage of the fourth round? I sent CBS an e-mail inquiring about receiving a taped copy, but they told me it was out of their hands and that I may have to contact the PGA.

Has anyone attempted something like that before? I really don't wish to have a documentary style version, I.E. something you'd see on the Golf Channel or ESPN Classic, I'd rather see the fourth round played out shot by shot just as you are describing above.

Thank you in advance.

Re: Master's TV Coverage

The video rights for the masters is different than any other tournament. The masters owns all rights to the broadcast. That's why it took as long as it did for the Nike commercials to come out.
