DiMarco on the Ryder Cup

So Chris DiMarco and Tiger Woods prefer the presidents cup to the ryder cup........

Gee, whatever can the reason be....

Oh yea..they sometimes win the Presidents cup.

What a load of rubbish. I think Lee Westwood caught the mood when he said of DiMarco 'a veteran of ONE ryder cup' its a pity too, cause dimarco is exactly the sort of player who the US need for the Ryder Cup. All this stuff about Woods and Furyk being the pairing for 2006. Maybe, but how many Ryder Cups does Furyk have left in him, certainly nowhere near as many as woods.

I have to laugh at this thing about Europe being obsessed by the Ryder Cup, as if theres something wrong with that, It was only 20 years ago the US were moaning it wasnt competitive for them, now its too tough??? Make your minds up, guys.

Ben Crenshaw said it best when he mentioned the US players being obsessed with completing a score and beating their buddies.

And I think its a travesty that Daly has never made a team....

Re: DiMarco on the Ryder Cup

I can see how they would like the Presidents cup better, 1) it has more of the end of the year everyone is best friends feel, 2) I have also not heard any of the "we need to be paid" coments as I have heard about the Ryder cup (I assume their allowance is better?) 3) the fans are not hostile to the visitors.

I am not sure it has anything to do about winning, but it has to be getting old, that the press makes you out as a huge favorite and you just get murdered in the four ball matches on day one.

As for Daly, if he would get is game in shape to become one of the top 10 Americans he would not need to get an invite. As is it is he is a tough selection for what ever reason it seems that the last couple of years the course ends up being rather tight and suited for ball strikers, which seems to end up ruling out his selection. Besides I think the US captain heading into it every year feels that they have the better team and does not need to take a high risk selestion when you have 6-10 solid players to choose from. I doubt he will make it in 2006 unless he plays his way on to the team. But you would think he would be very good in better Ball and easy to sit in alternate shot.
