| It's that time of year again guys... It's the Masters week at Augusta National. There are so many players to choose from. Personally I'm going with Tiger, his form this year has been incredible. I will also be keeping a close eye on Jose Maria Olazabal who knows this course inside out and has an exquisite short game. Let us know your pick and any thoughts on the event through this thread... The official site of the Masters - featuring live coverage from Amen Corner for all four days. |

| Re: The Masters 2006 Had a fantastic day at the Monday Practice Round (yesterday). Even though only a little over half the field played practice rounds I got a chance to see some of the better players struggle with the newly lengthened first hole. I sat right behind the first tee and listened to most of the players plan out a driver-4 iron approach. The bunker on the right was barely in play for most. However, two players really stood out. Tiger and Vijay both blasted perfect tee shots up the hill leaving short irons to the green. The lengthening may backfire as this was a terrific advantage for the longer hitters. Mickelson didn't play on Monday. Later in the nine hole round Vijay was struggling and Tiger was consistently 20-25 yards longer than everyone (smiling the whole time). We saw no one play better than Tiger. However, we noticed that one shorter hitter, Jose Maria Olazabol, was really playing well. He really placed his shots into the green well. He's a master with his short game that could put him near the top again this week. Luke Donald may be a dark horse in the tournament. He was really practicing hard. Just a few notes from a weekend hacker. I tried to attach a picture of Tiger's followthrough after blasting his first tee shot. Maybe it worked.

| Re: The Masters 2006 Personally, I think it's going to be a 1 horse race ... Phil is going to kill the course. He is playing out of his socks and confidence is at an all-time high. He loves Augusta, he loves the vide and being defending champion he has a focus on 1 thing: winning. |

| Re: The Masters 2006 As long as Phil doesn't turn confidence into cockiness, he should win with where his game is right now. Although, our adopted Canadian, Stephen Aimes, played extremely well during the Players Championship with a victory where he shot a 67 on Sunday. I will be cheering for Stephen Aimes and 2003 Masters Champion, Mike Weir, the whole way!!! Last edited by gord962 : 04-04-2006 at 09:23 PM. |

| Re: The Masters 2006 I think my picks would be Jose Maria, Ernie and Phil. With Tigers father so seriously ill im not sure his heart will be totally in it Mickelson seems to blow really hot or cold and from one week to the next. If he's on like last week he'll be right in it but he's prone to silly mistakes if he gets too aggressive and Augusta will kill him if thats the case As an englishman i'll be rooting for Donald and Howell although I think this course will be too long for them however accurate iron play will be crucial which is why I think guys like Donald, Olazabal and Toms will do well |

Which brings me to my pick...DiMarco, think he will pull it off this year, he has only played in four masters, and finished 10th, 12th, 6th, and 2nd just barely beaten out by another one of Tigers wild finishes. Don't think Tiger will fair well this year, too much on his plate. |
