| Women's USOPEN For 3 weeks leading up to the Men's USOPEN all you could hear was the talk about was Wie, Tiger, Phil, people qualifying. Now it's the week of the Women's USOPEN....not a peep! From the media, from anybody.
I'd say compitition wise the LPGA is the best tour right now, and it still gets no respect.
A lot of this is the adminstrations fault. From what I've read lately, that all stories, video, etc belongs to the LPGA. They claim rights to everything, to make a few extra bucks. So it takes money away from the media to cover it.
Some of the story lines from the last year that make it the most exciting tour.
Birdie Kim holes a long bunker shot to win the 05 USOpen with 17 year old Morgan Pressel tied for the lead, in the fairway watching.
Lorena Ochoa finishes no worst than 2nd so far in 06. After chunking a 3 wood into the pond to lose the 05 USOpen.
Karrie Web hole a 70 yard shot on the 72nd hole to force a playoff and a win.
Se Ri Pak stiffing a shot against Karrie Web in a playoff to win the last major.
Did I mention both the above players were suffering a David Duval type battle.
16 year old Michelle Wie being in contention in every tournament she's played in.
Anika Sorenstam in a tigeresk slump....and admitting it.
If the USOpen is hard and fast, it will be a very equal tournament as driver will go through the fairway on a lot of holes. Eliminating that from the long hitters games. But with all the rain in the north east it could make the long hitter the advantage. As always a USGA run tourney it will be scrambling and putting that will tell the winner.
