Byron Nelson will be missed

For those that have not heard, Byron Nelson just passed away today at age 94. The father of the modern golf swings. He was the inspiration to Jack, Arnie, Player, Trevino and countless others of my generation of golfers. He played at a time when Hogan, Snead, Jones were all in thier prime and beat them all, he played when there was no money to be made, but for just, love of the game. He will be missed.

Re: Byron Nelson will be missed

The great ones live a long life: Iron Byron 94, Slammin Sam Snead 89, The Hawk 84, Gene Sarazen 97, I believe these men played 'till the very end, the thought of shooting low scores kept them forever young in addition keeping their cool on and off the golf course guaranteed longevity.

Cool Re: Byron Nelson will be missed

He played for the love of the game. We remember him fondly as we celebrate his life with us and his influence on the game. He was truly a gentleman, both on and off the course.
