Re: Callaway mishap

Sorry 'zuno - I should have said that only Ping has a foundry in the US - all other foundries are in China.

Well because you are stating that the fact it is made in China means that is is of poor quality.
Where its made has no reflection on the quality of something, how its made does.
If its knocked together badly in the back of some shop then its poor quality, whether that shop is in Shanghai or San Francisco is irrelevant.

Re: Callaway mishap

hi
i dont think it was implyed that all chinese clubs are poor quality and most heads that are shipped to the usa for assembly are of good quiality but a lot of clones are made using a lower quality steel and are not that good, there cheep and for the price ok but the torarance between the clubs is up to 5% or more and the diffrence it could mean is that say a 5 iron was 60.75% loft and be off 5% low you could end up with a 5 iron having a loft of say 60.65 and if say a 6 iron had 3% error high then have a 6 iron with a loft of 60.60 insted of the 60.50 % it should have.
instead of having a diffrent between hitting a ball of about 10 to 12 yards you could have a diffrence of only 3 to 5 yards and between some clubs you could have a real wide gap between others.
some clones are good and i know lowpost knows more about building clubs and what heads are on sale and are of good quility.

Re: Callaway mishap

How do you know that club head didn't come off because of a loft bend done in the tour trailer? Pro's do club adjustments to suit their personal requirements. Most aren't playing a set straight off the Walmart rack.
