![]() ![]() It happens. A bad mix, a bad batch of epoxy, contaminated epoxy... The only time I've lost a head was when I was being too cheap - I s****ed the last bit of epoxy onto a shaft, and slid the head on. It actually stayed on for quite a few rounds, but eventually gave up the ghost. Last edited by LowPost42; 01-24-2007 at 10:42 PM. |

| Re: Callaway mishap Ummm well... Yeah you have now. I purchased a new set of ping g5 graphite irons last year. I have splintered 7 of them. Ping has great service, and actually contacted me (without me contacting them first) to tell me that the shafts had a recall. They sent me out a new set 2-day delivery with a pre-paid invoice to send my faulty ones back. Since then I have had another one break (3-iron). They replaced it as well. I have asked if they will replace the set with steel as I have played eye2's for nearly 20 years on steel without an issue, but they refused. oh well, I guess I will keep on breaking them and they will continue to replace them...

| Re: Callaway mishap errr that last post was sort of "tongue in cheek" so to speak... I know a few fellows who have full Callaway sets and they love them just as much as I love my Ping's... I had Eye2's as well... Great bats (for me at least) and I hear that there are several current PGA Tour players that still use them now. I have ISI Steels now and love them just as much as my old Eye2's. I guess I'm a Ping convert and I'll spruik them to whoever will listen... Cheers ![]() |

| Re: Callaway mishap hi i'm a big ping fan and have used pings for over 23 years with only my sand wedge shaft breaking and that was replaced free too. started with ping k1s and i now have ping zings and love how they feel and play. i know we all have our own choice in clubs and do think its unusal for a top brand to fail like this. if you think how many are sold every year them some must have faults, the better companys just have a better quality checks. bill |

| Re: Callaway mishap I am curious, why did you go with graphite.... my first clubs were steel and I hated the vibrations caused by so many mishits so I bought some Callaway graphite irons. I now have a mix of clubs but I am developing a preference for steel. james Quote:

Because the Chinese are not as good at manufacturing as the Americans?Keep the racism up, maybe you can try fight a war against them aswell. ![]() |

| Re: Callaway mishap hi greeboman i do think the chinese do make good clubs but there quality control on there cheeper clubs are not as good. the only usa maker now is ping (that i know off) and pings quality control is very good on all there products even there clothes that are make in china. the chinese do make very good telescopes and electrical equipment but they have the same quality problem's on there cheeper units. you get what you pay for is very true with a lot of chinese equpment. the chinese do sell more electrical equpment than anyone in the world now and most of it to the uk and the usa, a lot of it rebadged into uk and usa makers. golf clubs are a good example of the rebaged chinese clubs with usa brands. bill Last edited by bill reed; 01-31-2007 at 05:57 PM. |

| Re: Callaway mishap You guys are outside your minds. Very little is actually manufactured in North America anymore. Lots may be assembled, but not much manufactured. With the exception of Ping, EVERY OTHER GOLF HEAD is forged in China. Every single one. In fact, the clones we see are often made in the same foundries as the OEM they're cloning. The difference is that the materials aren't the same, and the tolerances are much, much wider on clone gear - which is why it's inherently cheaper. I work pretty tightly with the guys at Aggressive Golf - who have their own line of shafts and heads - and in the golf industry the first job is finding a foundry that is willing to make your design WITHOUT SELLING IT OR COPYING IT. Apparently there are only 2 foundries like this (both in China) - and they charge an arm and a leg. Integrity is expensive, apparently. Sorry, but I hate this idea that there are 'American Made' clubs and 'Chinese made' clubs. There are plenty of American assembled clubs, assembled with Chinese made parts. Rant over.

| Re: Callaway mishap Ping cast their clubs mostly, Lowpost, they only have a very small Forging business because for some reason people thing forged is better than cast for wedges and stuff, which is nonsense. I just wish they were still allowed to make Copper Beryllium clubheads. I'm pretty sure Golfsmith still have a plant in the USA that makes clubheads as well. I dont see how making a statement about the quality of gear from China is a racist statement. Only someone obsessed with political correctness would say something like that.....cheap gear is down to the fact that the companies pay less for the raw materials in the first place. D.
