| Super Stroke Putting System? Super Stroke Putting System – Golf Club Putter Grip Just wondering if anyone has tried this. I'm thinking I'll get it for Christmas, anything to improve my putting lol. Just wondering if any of you guys have used this and what you thought. Thanks. |

| Re: Super Stroke Putting System? You know this is just a re-package on an old theme. The big putter grip as been around for 50 or 60 years that I know about. Greg Norman had the Shark grip back in the 70's. This big grip thing shows up every ten years or so, makes a big splash for year or so, then fades away...lol There is really only one way to improve putting, and it's a three step process...practice practice practice...lol...no really, first find a putter you like, find or make it fit you (places your arm comfortably and places eyes over ball), and of course practice. There is reason pros spend the majority of their time on the putting green. Most high handicap players spend 80% of practice on the range and 20% putting practice. Most pros do it the other way around. If that won't convince you, think of this way. On a par 72 course, you will tee off 18 times for sure, putt probably 36 times, that leaves 18 shots in between. So if shooting straight par you will more then likely spend half of your strokes on the green. Every putt you make less then 36, is one more shot you can play with on the 18 in between tee to green and still shoot straight par. |

Well said. Find a putter design you like, get it fit, then practice with it. I've got a core 'group' of mentors that I constantly learn from - being a small shop in a small town I don't get the kind of exposure that my mentors do. One of them fits almost without fail putter first, followed by wedges - quite contrary to what most of us go to get fit for (driver first, then irons!). To use GoNavy's example - on that par 72 you tee off 18 times - how many times is that with a driver? I know that for me, even on courses approaching 6800 yards I don't hit driver on every par 4 and have even been known to play par 5's without my driver just to eke out a par (3 full iron shots versus driver, long iron, half wedge)... so even if I take driver every opportunity, on a standard course there are still 4 par 3s - so I hit driver 14 times. I average 36 ppr, because I have no short game prowess (read: I don't get up and down) and I'm learning more and more about how to identify proper wedge fitting (not that I didn't know how, but I'm learning more about the intricacies, subtle stuff involved). So wedge and putter design are paramount for your ability to score well - they need to fit the course you play and the stroke you use.

And with dedicated practice those putts that you missed that you felt you could have made will start to drop. Your positive attitude will be a great help, keep at it and good luck. |

| Re: Super Stroke Putting System? The Two-Thumb putter grip probably would work as well and a cost a lot less. I have not tried it but then I don't have any problem with a conventional grip. From what I hear you have to be careful with the bigger grip....it changes the balance and swing weight. ![]() |

| Re: Super Stroke Putting System? I got the grip for christmas and the two rounds I have been able to play since getting it my putting was definitely improved, which is most likely due to the practice I have been putting in in my basement over the winter. I've been practicing for about 1 to 1 1/2 hours per day until recently I came down with the flu and it's been a challenge just to stand up much less putt. The grip definitely has a great feel, and it makes the 5 footers and in much easier in my opinion. I think it helps me for sure but it's still nothing without practicing but my stroke definitely feels much better with the grip. Golf tryouts are coming in the last week of this month so hopefully I can fully recover and get out and play a few times to get my swing back. Yesterday I went to the range and that wasn't a pretty site, but I began to feel a little light headed and tired throughout the session and I think that's again still due to this flu so hopefully in the next week or so I'll be back. Overall though I'd definitely give the grip a thumbs up, everyone laughs at it but it's no joke when you're sinking putts.
