Question Re: Glove or no Glove

I may be wrong but I think the idea of putting without a glove started with Arnie Palmer . Theory is putting touch is improved, personally, I think its a load of bull. But, if the pros. do it it must be correct.

Re: Glove or no Glove

Its just about whats comfortable for you. I take my glove off when i am chipping or doing a punch shot as well, just something i'm comfortable with.

Re: Glove or no Glove

Same thing here - personal preference. To me, putting is completely different from a full swing. So by taking the glove off, it helps signal that change.

Re: Glove or no Glove

Personally the only thing that i use a glove for is driving. everthing else i feel it is important to have a good feel for it even if it is 170 i still feel it is better to not have a glove. really its up to you but personally i don't like them as i feel they get in your way and are uncomfortable

Re: Glove or no Glove

Like any piece of equipment, if it doesn't fit you, it will most certainly NOT help your game.

Re: Glove or no Glove

I used to wear a glove. It wore out and for a couple of rounds, I was forced to play without one. I soon became convinced that without the glove gives me much more feel of the club and helps to maintain a loose grip on the club.

One thing that Freddie Couples and I have in common...hehe

Re: Glove or no Glove

I don't use the glove, it just doesn't feel comfortable to me. On chips and putts I think it's like my mental game, saying this isn't a full swing so you dont need your glove. Just what I think.

Re: Glove or no Glove

I leave my glove on for everything. If I start to struggle putting I may take it off, for a little while. I just don't notice any difference. Plus I absolutely HATE slow play. Any little thing to keep the speed up helps.

Re: Glove or no Glove

My glove comes out just before the game ball for the day and goes back in just after the ball is returned to the bag, never removed from the hand in between. I dunno why, its maybe just sloth tho. It would probably explain why i go thru so many gloves as well.

I have never noticed any difference in feel, if you buy a top quality cabretta glove that fits right it should be like a second skin anyway.

Re: Glove or no Glove

I either wear one all the time or I don't wear one at all. Depends on the weather and how I feel that day

Re: Glove or no Glove

If you have small hands like I do, it is easier to form the correct grip without the glove getting in the way.
