divot on right foot?

I was playing golf the other day and man, thoose driving range mats are soooo forgiving, I thought I might be good at golf, then I go to play for real on grass not a mat, I really suck. I seemed to never take a divot, but when I did, I would take the smallest divot ever, it was on my right foot (i'm right hand player). so I just moved the ball to my right foot and I was hitting great and dead strait. Is is bad that I wasn't taking a divot and just skimming the ground? And how could I move my divot farther foward?

Re: divot on right foot?

For the next 2 full buckets (about 100 shots), play 3/4 shots with your feet close together. You will discover balance AND what it feels like to be in the center of the swing. Sounds like you have a bit of a reverse pivot (where you start with the weight back at address, move it forward at the top, then back to the back at impact...baseball style). This drill will cure that.

Re: divot on right foot?

Thanks, I know I don't have a reverse pivot, but maybe that drill will still help. My balance os good too, I never fall over and I can stand on my left foot after my swing. One thing I heard is there should be a spin tilt to the right at adress, is that wrong, and would that change where my divot is at? I notice pro's have a tilt to the right, but is that just for the driver?

Re: divot on right foot?

not too much tilt, you can over exaggerate it and hit it fat alot, more tilt for longer club thats why its more noticeable in the driver
