| Re: using wedges sw pw lw As for the cocking of the wrists, you do have to cock them sooner than with longer irons because the shaft is shorter. On the other hand, never cock your wrists before you even start your back swing. Concerning distance, you might wnat to try a more aggressive attack angle. To do so, bring the ball back in your stance (towards your right foot if you're right handed) and strike the ball with a descending blow. By doing so, you'll get more distance from your wedges since you're actually "delofting" the clubs. Give it a try a see what happens.

| Re: using wedges sw pw lw hi all good point about swinging to hard doppleganger, if you swing harder you inpart more spin and ball climes ever higher and results in distance lost, the amout of spin the wedges put on the ball is huge and hitting harder can often take distance off. bill |

| Re: using wedges sw pw lw To me hitting wedges is not about the distance but rather hitting them an exact distance every time and knowing those distances. I would not worry too much about a loss of 10 even 20 yards that much from your short irons as long as there are no yardage gaps from 150 yds in. I have more success from a 100 yards hitting a nice easy gap wedge then a hard sw. Though my hard pw goes 125 I am more comfortable using it at 110 with a nice easy fade swing. But, you might also want to get the angle of the wedges checked, some of the yardage could be due to the fact that they are off or not as strong as normal pw. (i.e if your pw is 50 rather then a a standard 48 that could explain 5-7 yds or so) |

I agree with the previous comment regarding distance, don't concern yourself about it, keep a smooth tempo and use a longer club if you need more. Have a look at this video lesson on pitching it should help. http://www.ritson-sole.com/golf-tips...tching-method/ |
