Pelz - worth the money!?!

Hi

Tee to green I am playing well but am losing lots of shots when putting, though I have still seen improvements I know I can save another few strokes if I was putting consistently.

So I am thinking of buying a Pelz book and working more on my putting. The question is are his books worth buying and if so which is best, the bible or putting like a pro?

Cheers

JCBDB

Re: Pelz - worth the money!?!

Putting like a pro is his first book. If your going to get one get the Bible. There is a lot of his first book in the Bible. He tells what to do and how to practice with aids, to get your swing on line. Some good info, good reading.

Re: Pelz - worth the money!?!

I am reading Dave Pelz's Puting Bible right now. I am about half way through it right now as I have spent more time golfing than reading. I got the hard cover book on ebay for about $25 after shipping and have found it to be an excellent value. The book gives you a lot of insight into putting that few people would ever think of trying to explain. It has helped me and like I said i am only half through. I would recommend it to anyone that i thought would take the time to read it.

Re: Pelz - worth the money!?!

I say buy his video of 10 minutes a day to better putting and by a putting aide similar to the eyeline putting device. YOU WILL NOT SPEND BETTER MONEY ON GOLF, if you use this stuff, ten minutes a day, I will gaurentee my above statement and buy the stuff back from you

Re: Pelz - worth the money!?!

Guys,

I recently began reading Pelz Short Game Bible. Wow what a great book. I'm less than a 1/4 way through it and I'm chipping and pitching a TON better on my first day trying his stuff out on the practice green. Before today, I wasn't even close. I had no idea what I was doing on a pitch shot. I'm reasonably sure I will shave 4 strokes at least off my next round. By the time I finish the book and practice his system for pitching I will lower my score on average alot. Yeah, It's worth the money. I'll be buying his Putting Bible soon enough.

Re: Pelz - worth the money!?!

Head to the library and borrow it. Mine has all of them. Then judge for yourself. I agree with most here, Pelz is the man when it comes to the short game and putting.

That being said there are no quick fixes. Even Pelz can't work miracles.

hi james
but if you do work at what he tells you you do get better and get better quick too and he does go into things a bit deep and it does get ingrained more so you remember.

Re: Pelz - worth the money!?!

I certainly meant no disrespect to the mighty Pelz. He's the greatest no doubt, when it comes to golf instruction. I totally respect the fact that he has done his homework and doesn't get involved in the "power / full swing" part of the game. He's chosen his speciality and he sticks with it.

As a matter of fact, I think he should apply his scientific approach to the power game to settle one and for all what works and what doesn't. There's so much hogwash floating around. Pelz is NOT hogwash. He's the real deal.

When you watch him in an interview he's very honest and self-depricating. It's very refreshing to see someone who actually know what he's talking about and can back it up with facts.

Smile Re: Pelz - worth the money!?!

Guys,

Right after I read Pelz's Short game Bible and began to practice his stuff alot I hurt my back and couldn't take a full swing. I may have played 1-2 rounds while reading it beforew I hurt my back and his stuff helped. Anyway , for 3 weeks all I did was chip, pitch and put almost every day. I finally was able to play a round the other day. Well I only had two 3 putts all day. When I was able to chip or pitch I 1 putted almost all of them. I came real close to dropping 2 40 yard pitches and 3 or 4 long and short chips. His stuff is great and it works well. I don't fear the 50 yard pitch any longer.

Re: Pelz - worth the money!?!

hi
one other thing plez teaches you is that every club can be used for the short game and all do a certin job, what he does in his book is to help you see what club does what and why, why a lob wedge is better at 25 yds on some shots but a 9 iron or a 8 iron are better from 25 yrd on other shots, he gives you the why and where and makes you think of the shot and what club works best.
most other just say a wedge flys 2/3 and runs 1/3 but dont talk about if it's up hill or down hill and if it hard or soft, dave plez does and explanes it all in a way you can understand and he has the research to back up what he says,
i love his two books the putting bible and the short game bible and would recomend them both as the two best books to save you shots.
you can buy both books for the price of a lesson but with the books you can keep going back to then as you pick up more the second and third time you read it. there is so much in the books you cant take it all in at first it but you will improve i know i have.
i to like james would love to see dave plez do a full swing (long irons and driver) book. has any one read his new book "course management" it not over here in the uk yet but been out in usa for 6 months.
bill
