Aligning feet on putts

I have problems aligning my feet on putts making me miss putts that i need to make.
Has anyone got a drill to align my feet that i can try or put in my pre-shot routine?
Thanks

Re: Aligning feet on putts

hi
get dave plez book " putting bible" it goes into the set up really deep and as mcdougle said are you trying to aline with the hole or or are you feet in line parallel to the hole, there is a big diffrence as your shoulders, hips and feet will be out of line and you will push more putts, you should think of it like a railway track with your feet on one rail and putter on the other rail. his book is almost 400 pages long but cover so much more than any one else has. if you want to save shots get his book you wont reget it.

Re: Aligning feet on putts

I actually setup open to my line.

The reason I emphasize line is that while you're putting TO the hole, you're starting the ball ON your line.

Put another way: Every putt is a straight putt. You start your ball as straight as you can on your line to the hole.

The only time I aim at the hole is

a) short putts (inside 2 feet). Even then, if I detect a break, I'll play to the side of the hole (but still inside the hole).

b) long, long putts (25 feet or more) - but only if there's no obvious breaks. If it's simply subtle breaks the whole way, I'll just try to lag it close. I like 6" for my 2nd.

But back to the original question: As a straight-back-straight-through putter, I find it easier to keep my putter on line if I'm standing a little open.

Re: Aligning feet on putts

In putting where the feet line up isnt important at all! Its where your shoulders and eyes line up which is important!

If you can get your shoulders to be perfectly allinged to your target and your eyes right over the ball! Not much can go wrong!

Re: Aligning feet on putts

hi
dave plez says that opening the stance (feet) makes the shoulders tilt and the eyes tilt too and you miss 15% more putts being open than square, he has a mirror that he puts where the ball is and looks in and if he open or shuts his stance the sholders also tilt, you cant help it without doing things with the arms and hands and that makes the shot even harder. page 66 to 102 of his book the putting bible

Re: Aligning feet on putts

Thanks for the replies, i played yesterday in a match and putted well. I didn't worry about my feet, instead i made sure my right elbow was tucked in against my body. This helped to keep the clubface square and i was lagging it consistently well.
