Lag Putt

What is the distance at which you make a decision to Lag putt to go for it ? (Assuming you have a level putt - not a downhill-er)

I was browsing Dave Pelz's web site. He is a man of Stats. He has a neat section where one can pitch/chip/putt from 15 different distances and come with a short-game handicap. Very impressive. There he calls 24 ft and less as make-able, hence anything further away would be Lag-able. What are your distances for make-able?

Re: Lag Putt

Hi mate,

Well this distance varys for me as it all depends on where the ball is and its lie. I have putted from off the green resulting in a putt, but on the over hand I have chipped in from around the same distance. For me I think you have to calculate what you can and can't do before chossing to putt. Also some people are very handy with their putter but hopeless with chipping and vice versa, in which it comes down to the individual.

Cheers
Mark

Re: Lag Putt

My worse putt is better than my worse chip which is better than my worse pitch. So! I put, chip then pitch as a preference in that order.
