Dreaded S Virus strikes again

I was crusing along with a fairly decent round going when I was looking at a 60yd pitch to a pretty oprn green. Bam, I hit a shank hard right, I then butche. red the hole wityh another shank and then a fat chip and two putt. My problems with this shank shot has been happening for about 2 months, I used to shank my 5 iron but corrected that with a 2x4 drill. That drill worked perfectly. However with my wedges I'm really not sure what the reason for it is. So now when I stand over the 60yd pitch shots I have no clue. I have tried, weaker/stronger grips, ball forward/rear, staying very still. I really have no clue and that adds to apprehension. It really is ruining my game, almost to the extent I thought about giving it up for awhile or permanently. I was down to a 4hdcp for a short time, now I'm about a 10/12. Any ideas? Thanks so much, John

Hi John,

You may be hitting out to in and creating a shank. Have a look at this video and see if it helps:

Re: Dreaded S Virus strikes again

A shank is a hit off the hosel of the club. I think what happens sometimes with shorter clubs is that the setup at address becomes more weighted towards the toes. On the downswing, the centrifugal force pulls your weight even more foward hence a hosel hit. The immedicate cure, is to readjust your weight more towards the heels so you hit the ball on the clubface and not the hosel. Hope this helps, mike.
