How do you get out of wet bunkers?

I'd just sorted out my bunker shots to a reasonable standard then along comes the winter and all our bunkers are full of standing water and wet heavy compact sand and the usual technique doesn't work and I'm having real trouble getting out, how do I change my technique to correct this?

Re: How do you get out of wet bunkers?

In wet and compacted sand the bounce on your club will not work as with dry and loose sand.

You will need to use a club with a small amount of bounce, Pitching or Lob wedge for example, depending how far you wish the shot to go. Play the ball forward as normal and don't open the face quite as much as in dry conditions. The leading edge will dig into the sand and lift the ball out.
