Any putt over eight feet I now lag putt, I imagine a hole six feet in diameter and aim to get the ball to stop inside this, I will then have a maximum second 3 ft putt to hole out. When putting 18 ft or more I putt looking at the hole, this gives me very good lag putts that have a high possibility of second putt success. |

“You can use any grip you like, take any stance you like and use any putter you like….There are players who putt very well ...with quite short shafted putters…others with long…Some…play the ball off the left foot, others off the right…others anywhere in between. One class of putter stands with the head over the ball…another with the ball fairly away…most look at the ball…some...at the hole.” He suggests that the only fundamental is that; “To become a good putter the main requisites are to keep the head dead still and make the putter blade go accurately to the hole”

| Re: Putting Thoughts...... Putting is very much feel. Your eyes should be over the ball when putting and stand tall to let the arms hang (not much knee bend). Next practice, just before you pull the trigger, drop a ball from the bridge of your nose (between the eyes) onto the ground. This will indicate your head position. Ideally, the ball should hit the ball that is on the ground. On the putting surface, once committed to the line, only focus on the pace of the putt. Trust it. Brush it (like painting) rather than hit it. Must go Nickers |
