Confused about swing plane Are short irons like 8 and higher suppose to have a higher, steeper plane (AOT)? Are long irons suppose to have more of a sweeping motion around the body or still a high steeper place? For hitting short irons, I have a problem that sometimes I hit it sound in the center but it does straight right rather than like a slice, how do I fix that. Also, for divots, what is a drill to make hit short irons with divots in front of the ball rather than behind. I have that problem sometimes too... Thanks

Re: Confused about swing plane Don't mistake swing PLANE with angle of ATTACK. You can have the flat - 1P swing and still hit it high with a steep attack...you just have to make sure your wrists are hinging and are very late released.

Re: Confused about swing plane In a 1p, the hips stay very still back. 2p, the hips can go with the shoulders.

Re: Confused about swing plane Hi dcwang, You are correct about steeper plane for 8 & 9 Iron & the sweeping motion of longer Irons. Try not to be to focus on hitting the ball than turf. I try hard many time to figure that out but at that speed (which is the fastest part of your swing) trying to manipulate the club in than manner is being quite unrealistic. Concentrating instead on working out on adjusting the swing plane to suit your various clubs, on matching your downswing plane with the upswing plane, proper weight transfer between the legs and finding the right swing tempo to suit you. You will hit it at the right spot if your swing mechanics is correct.
