| ball line / putt I have been drawing lines around my balls to help me with my alignment on greens. And it helps me a good deal. I am curious though why I can't get the line to roll end over end like I think it should? I guess I am just hitting it slightly crooked at impact? I swear it seems my face is square to target at impact and all the way through the stroke. Any suggestions? |

| Re: ball line / putt Its an indication that the putt is skidding. This gets it off-line slightly. To reduce skidding, try to make more of an up-stroke on the ball...putting slight top-spin on it, and that gets the ball rolling forward right away, rather then having a square on stroke that pushes the ball with no spin off the face, and the ball slides along the ground, then causing it to start to roll. That distance it slides is where you get "skid" that causes slight wobble. Skid is probably most damaging on short putts...you expect to make those, so alightment is critical. Longer putts are all about distance control, and skid does not affect it that much.

| Re: ball line / putt Yeah, that's what I thought was causing it, so I have started hitting the ball at the equator with the bottom of the putter face, this just feels better to me, better roll. I still dont get a line over line, maybe I'll try putting the ball more forward in my stance, but right now its already halfway between my front ankle and center. |
