Indoor Putting Greens????

Does anyone have any plans, or know where I can get some plans for an indoor putting green. Winter is approaching here in Chicago, and I would like to get started building one in my garage for some easy practice....

i know they sell putting green like astro turf in home depot so i guess youd have to like use some ply wood and some 2 by 4s and make some sort of a box and just cut a hole in it where you want the cup to be, youd also have to buy a cup idk where to get that online somewhere im sure though.

I have a great grandson who lives up in Montana, near the Canadian border. He has a shortened golf season also, and has done what you want to do to practice some of his game in during the winter months.

What he did was go to his local artificial turf retailer and bought a 4' x 4' square of fake grass turf. That was his chipping practice material to hit off of. At a local carpet retailer he purchased a large piece of "pergo" carpet for his green. The size will be relative to what ever the amount of room you have. He uses a 8' x 12' piece of pergo. On both pieces of the above materials, he attached 1/2" foam carpet padding to their undersides. The padding is used to help absorb the chipping impact of the club head, and to give more of realistic bounce, and roll of the ball on the green. It also allows for his putts to run more like they would on a real green. With out the padding the stimp would be much to high as the surface materials are setting on concrete. As for a cup the last time I was there he was using an unopened can of soup. His reasoning is that the can is smaller than a regulation hole, and if his practice shot hits any part of the can, when on a regular green, the ball would go in the hole. That's the basics of his indoor, winter practice station. When he wants to practice he just rolls out the materials onto the floor of his garage.

The 4' x 4' fake turf is of the high quality stuff, and he can hit full iron, metal wood shots off it, into a net. It is pretty tough stuff. Most suppliers I would think, would have left over pieces thay would sell cheap, or even give away. Same with the pergo carpet.

Price wise I think he said the whole set up cost him less than $100.00, including the netting.
