How do you hit short bunker shots ? I'm talking bunker shots when the pin is only about 10 to 15 feet away ! My bunker shots come out low with loads of run and in these warm conditions, the ball finishes off the green ! Thanks !

Re: How do you hit short bunker shots ? You have to accellerate through the sand. "Scoot and Spin" to quote Dave Pelz. Your clubhead must move so fast through the sand, that it pulls a layer of sand under the ball, generating backspin. The shot is fairly similar to the cut lob, but more extreme. Stand very open, clubface VERY open, swingpath very out-to-in, cutting across the ball.

Re: How do you hit short bunker shots ? yes , break the wrists almost immediately, this will give you the steep descent into the sand which should pop the ball up and out . give it a try in your practice bunker and experiment with how much open the club face needs to be for distance hit .

Re: How do you hit short bunker shots ? I just been practising and realized something really stupid. When I do bunker shots I grip the club as normal and then open it. What I did today was open the club first and then place my hands on the club. It felt miles different. I did a few shots and found it alot easier to get the ball out and onto the green.
