Forums specially for single planers and 2 planers

Seeing as there is an on-going debate about how the 2 styles differ and a tip for one type of swing won't necessarily work for the other?

Hi James,

I am looking into this issue at the moment. I am aware of it. I am looking at putting together two tutorials describing each style, which will also allow people to discuss.

Re: Forums specially for single planers and 2 planers

Just borrowed the brand new book from the library: "The Plane Truth for Golfers" by Jim Hardy. This book was highlighted in the Golf Digest article back in May? 2005. Haven't had time to assess but the article in GD was very eye-opening and the book seems to be more of the same only much more in-depth.

Greg

Think this would be a good idea. Im back to much more of a One Plane Swing now having flirted between the two for a while. Theres the 1PS site which is 15USD a month to join, would seem a good idea to have a board to discuss the 1PS and provide tutorials, tips, questions etc. I know i'd certainly benefit

This is the book that started the great debate.

Re: Forums specially for single planers and 2 planers

I've been reading it and now know I'm a 2 planer. So that's why my swing depends on good tempo.

As far a s the book goes it's pretty good but there are certainly flaws. The biggest one is the colour photo section with Peter Jacobson demonstrating the 2 swings. The setup for each type of swing look identical! Granted, there are other good shots in the book that help to describe the setup and method. Overall I think the book commits the cardinal sin of any sport book. It depend waaaaaaay too much on words and not enough on pictures. I think there's no adequate way to describe a swing in words. You need frame-by-frame sequences. Of course different people learn different ways so this book might work for you anyway.

I'd say it's a worthwhile addition to any golf library. And the overall "thesis" is sound. Just try to find a golf teacher that can help you sort out your swing with this theory. That might be troublesome.

Re: Forums specially for single planers and 2 planers

I would contend that Hardys bookk is already out of date. I think Hardy himself has changed some of his views esp around setup and I think he's working on a second edition

As an aside have a look at this guys One Plane Swing. Poetry in Motion
