| Re: Chipping from short grass I had the same problem. I changed my chipping to a method I saw on some video and suddenly it became very easy. Try this: Only chip with 3 irons, 6-I, 8-I, PW. Use the club that suits the situation best. With a 6 you want to be close to the green an hit it like a putt and get it rolling onto the green quickly, very much like a putt. Use an 8 for farther back and a PW for even farther. Now the secret: Tilt the chosen club up ON THE TOE. Use a putting grip with the club and hit the ball just like a putt. By tilting the club up on the toe you never have to worry about getting it caught up in the grass. Remember to use your normal putting stroke on the ball. Chipping will be so much easier.
