| An AHA moment So I have visited this forum since I got into golf a couple of years, and read all kinds of little tidbits about what goes into a good swing. Things like hitting down on the ball, keeping a bent right wrist, that sort of thing. It had come to my attention that there are many different ways of getting the job done. While I have enjoyed the discovery process of building a swing that works for me, I haven't had an aha moment until recently. The book I read while on vacation last week (I did bring my clubs) was "The Impact Zone" by Bobby Clampett, which I checked out from the library. His book talks about the dynamics of a good swing. When I think of a dynamic as it relates to golf, I think of a means to an end. In this case, the end is consistent solid contact with the ball, sending it off like a bullet towards the target with consistent trajectory & distance for the club being used. The dynamics he proports are:
Of these, I would say the big one was aiming to bottom out the swing in front of the ball. This did three things: It got my mind off the ball and got me focusing on the swing (HUGE!), it got me hitting the ball first every time, and it helped me define the target line. The last two got me swinging from the inside, and added 15-20 yards to each iron (can you say "casting?" I knew ya could). Next is to work on the girly accountant's upper body. Another book for another thread (Golf Shape Cindy Reid). Cheers, GB |

| Re: An AHA moment I'm content to let it be. It's not Bobby Clampett pimping his own book. ![]() There are those that seem to have had success with it, and others who threw it in the garbabe (not unlike Dave Pelz material!) I agree it smells a little spammish, but there's no link, and no blatant copyright infringement. |

| Re: An AHA moment Not promoting - just an accountant from kent that enjoyed what an author had to say. Naturally, instruction books aren't for everyone, and there are many that aren't too intuitive. The first time you log in after you register, you get this prompt to put a first post in the new members section of the forum. Could have said "Hi, I'm here," but decided to share with the community something that was meaningful to me, and how it related to my golf swing. |

But I'm the same guy - if I totally believe in something or get jazzed up about it, then I tend to push it and talk it to death. Like True Length Technology, for example. ![]() |

| Re: An AHA moment sorry about that, it just the fact that you said you've been on for years and now just just decided to post made it seem like you were trying to gain our trust. and then the "While every one of these principles has been mentioned in some form or another here on this forum" again one of thoose phycic tricks to be really vague and make us think you actually read the forums. just seemed like you were trying to pull one over by faking our trust and then selling some book. But anyway welcome to the forum, glad the book helped you. |
