Unhappy Hello to you all

Hi to every one out there as this is my first time in a forum I hope I am doing this right.I am currently playing off a handicap of 11 using the left handed grip with right handed clubs and I am right handed as well .
I have had this grip for some 20 years now and have only really started to struggle, as about this time last year I was quite comfortably playing off of 8 handicap ,then one day I started to shank every club in my bag !!!.
This would go on for weeks then stop as quickly as it came but then once I started to play well the 's' word would rear its ugly head again and so on and so on.
I have heard people describe a double cross similar to what I feel when I stand over the ball and know I am going to 's' the ball
Can anyone give me any advise or point me in the right direction with out having to change to the orthadox grip (I have worked too hard to get to single figures to have to start all over again lol ).
By the way I have tried the orthadox grip and struggled to break 100
Hoping to hear from any one soon .

Re: Hello to you all

Hi Pingeye,

Just an observation.

With your crosshanded grip, I wonder if you have started to lose your stance and lean into the shot. The downswing would then be steep and out to in and you would have to pull your arms in to contact the ball, causing you to hit the ball on the hosel. Perhaps you can keep your weight more on your heels to start and then equalize it, as you find improvement.

Also, in this light, you might make sure you make a fuller shoulder turn, as you may have shortened the backswing, over time, leading you to a steeper downswing.

Ted

Re: Hello to you all

Welcome to the site, I hope you participate in the discussions.

I like most avid golfers have had a visit from Mr S. Hank at times. A good tip is to address the ball towards the heel ( Yes the heel ) and then imagine you want to hit the ball off the toe as you swing down. Sounds odd but it does seem to work.

The other things to look for is an inside out swing and having your weight towards your toes.
