Hello friends. I am female, and I live in Western Australia and only started playing golf ten years ago when I was 60!! I played for five years on a beautiful golf course in Perth, WA. My handicap began to drop and I really enjoyed my golf. I now live in a country town where the greens are sand, and the course is quite rough. My handicap is gradually going out again and due to arthritis am having difficulty keeping shots accurate. I tend to slice or pull my shots a lot and now find that I am becoming too technical and "thinking" too much about my shots, and also reading books, and searching for lesson's on line, which is how I found this wonderful site. Are there any other "oldies" out there with arthritis that can give me any tips on a good swing technique. I have noticed that some of the older guys who can hit a long ball have all at some time played baseball type sports and don't have a normal swing. I do manage to walk the 18 holes without any problems and play at least once a week. Our season is just starting again and I am likely to be asked to play Pennants even though I believe my golf is not up to par at the moment. Help ![]()

Re: Hi from downunder. You could start with an Arthritic Grip - it requires much less pressure than a standard grip. I believe either GolfPride or GripOne make them - ask at your pro shop (or wherever you get your clubs re-gripped). Welcome to the boards!

Re: Hi from downunder. Hi Denmark. Another good product that you can try to help with the arthritis is a "Bioflow" bracelet. I have read a lot of positive reports on this product. I am not exactly sure how it works but apparently it does work!!

Re: Hi from downunder. Thanks for your help. I have not heard of the bioflow bracelet, but have used a magnetic bracelet for some time. They do help. My main problem is finding someone else with arthritic problems that has managed to adapt a swing when you cannot manage a full turn back and through. I have arthritic knees. I don't want to have to give up my golf because I think the exercise is good for me.
