Help me increase my driving distance

I rarely miss fairways, but don't hit far enough to get my 11 h'cap down. Use Taylor Made with graffaloy shaft, so club and shaft OK I think, but how do I generate real power. Every now and then one goes 260 yds but mainly it's only average 225-235yds. Any tips appreciated folks.
Yours, new boy on the block from Leeds, England.

The problem is that you're missing greens, I assume, or are having to hit 3 shots into long par 4's. Either way, I don't think distance is holding you back, I think it's your ability to get up and down.

You average 230 yards off the tee, with the occasional 260 yard bomb. My assumption here is one of two things:

1) Your swing mechanics are horrible, and every now and then you hit a good ball in spite of yourself.

2) You're consistently missing the center of the clubface, and every now and then you find it.

I think we can discount #1. If you're playing off 11, your swing must be in pretty good shape, and at absolute worst, repeatable with a consistent shot shape. You've probably even got an expected miss (if you put a bad swing on the ball, you know where it's ending up).

That brings me to #2. If it holds true, I've got to believe that you're using an older driver (probably steel) that really punishes you for not making center contact. It's tough to believe it's a 30 yard punishment though. (Please bear in mind that I've always played with Titanium drivers ~ 400cc's or bigger).

Which TaylorMade model, and is it a stock Grafalloy shaft, or aftermarket. And which model and flex shaft?

A new highlight: Golfing the home course on Christmas Day.

I say it too often: If it's golf club shaped, you can play with it.

For the record, I'm a club doctor, not a swing doctor.

Re: Help me increase my driving distance

If you answer a couple questions it may help us

1) Have you ever got your Swing speed checked?

2) Also what is the Flex on your Driver?

3) what distances do you hit your other clubs? (is your driver in line with the other clubs)

4) and Lowposts what model driver?

Bob
