| One year and weeks into golf, smitten, enamored and passionate. Not manly words, but apt descriptors. Playing now 1-2 times weekly, with time at home into the Izzo net. Am igno-compulsive with a small collection of aids and gadgets, CD'S, manuals, and subscriptions. The golf channel and the net have complicated my life even more. Luckily, my wife has bought into all this. Amazing ain't it? Measuring my successes in small steps, but the light is coming on more regularly. I'm about to complete my first series of lessons with a local assistant pro, a delightful girl with ample patience, and an aptitude perfectly suited to my skills. One of my sons-in-law is extremely competetive, and is,... for now, my gauge for progress, the kid is a player. Regular friday rounds with some other old farts allow me to play with guys just a little bit better than me. That's my version anyway. I'm playing with Pinemeadow clones, and am happy with them. I've vowed to buy name brand when I break into the eighties regularly. I'm confident that'll be this summer. Thanks for having me, Jim.. |

| Re: Howdy All Jimmy, Congradulations on picking up the sticks. It is an addictive game, and all of us here are in the same boat as you. I first played golf when I was 13 and really enjoyed the 144 strokes (inc. OB's lost balls and Penalties) it took me to navigate 18 holes. I stopped completely through HS and College... Three years ago I took it back up and shot on average 109's that year. I vowed to improve and Reduced next years scoring average to 93. last year I made big progress and averaged low 80's and got my official Ghin to +10 This year I agian hope to reduce it by half. to 5 or so. GOOD LUCK! its all about the short game. gary
