New guy with a problem

Hi All,

quick bio: 58 years old-been playing the game since 1984. Love and honor golf. Have always been a 105-115 player; a couple of lessons over the years. Retired from the police dept in Dec 2004. Time for more golf.
For no explainable reason, this year the wheels came off--- a real trainwreck off the tee. Short game OK.
Golfing buddies advice has not helped, but the best I can figure out is that I am casting. Swinging way over-the-top. (Some tee shots going almost 90 degrees from the shot line). Tried to slow down, taking a 3/4 swing. No help.
I love the game so much that this problem is starting to get to me.
Might need to take lessons, but the retirement check may not take the strain.
Anybody out there can help a 'happy hacker'?

Thanks in advance,

Dave

you may be getting your hips and hands through well before the clubface. Try keeping you left arm as straight as you can on the takaway and follow through. or your knees are bent to much

Hi
With respect to b0jangles , you already answered your own questions. get some advice off a pro and never listen playing partners , no matter how good their intentions . what worked for them won't nessesary work for you.........
we all love and respect this great game , so you are in good company.

Regards ...........Terry

Re: New guy with a problem

Holy Cow! With mucho thanks to B0 and TPG1965, went back to basics and re-started from ground-zero. An old Pro said "too wristy at the top, and, by the way, when did you stop keeping your left arm straight?"
A half-bucket of balls at the range and strong discipline on swing mechanics got me a 53 for 9 holes on Wednesday. Absent a few 3-putts, (but that is another story), I could have been in the mid-to-high 40's.

Can't tell you guys "Thanks" enough. You have relieved 6 weeks of pain.
Onward-and-Upward!

Thanks once again,

Dave
