hi Thanks for the reply it is much appreciated, i am aiming to try and knock 10 shots off my game,.
i have changed my grip slightly, however when driving the ball always seems to hook to the right, i correct this by aiming extreme to the left to allow the ball to come, but this is to inconsistant, any help would be great.
this site is greta hopefully it can help my problem, once this is sorted i can move to other underlying problems, thanks again you all out there,
ian

Re: hello to everyone

Hi Ian,

Firstly stop aiming further to your left to allow for the slice, this only makes the slice worse.

What you need to do is work on your alinment first, find some pavements slabs outside or a line on the carpet at home, line you feet up on the line with the ball just inside your left heel.........................now have a look down at your feet and try to remember what this looks like, because this is square to the target...............also lift your club up and place across your chest this also should be on the same line as your feet pointing at your imaginary target. (my guess this will feel like you are aiming left)

All you need to do is go to the range with 100 balls and make sure you are SQUARE every shot checking your feet, ball position and club across the chest......by the time you get to the 55th ball you should start straightening this up.

Hope this helps

Ian.

p.s just work on this for a few weeks and nothing else......"don't try to run before you can walk".

hi ian
i have absolutely no doubt that joining this forum has improved my game immensely. when i joined i had only been playing on and off for a year i sliced my driver and long irons i couldnt pitch chip or putt and my average score was around the 120's. by asking questions or just reading other post i am now breaking 100 ever time i play. i now drive with a 3wood which is 200yds and accurate! im hitting nice irons and my chipping and putting has become consistently reliable. i booked a block of 6 lessons with apro but only had 2 so far because im happy with my current rate of improvement ill save the others for a rainy day!

Red face Re: hello to everyone

i too have been playing for around 12 months since re discovering the game, i used to plat off 18 but did not play for some 10 years,
i am finding it increasingly difficult to play to the standard that i used to. however i am averaging around 95 -- 100 depending on which course i play.
i find it such a great way to de stress, what about you.

hi ian,
i had exactly the same problem mate. it nearly drove me round the bend i tried every drill going to no avail and seeing as all other advice on issues worked i put my driver away a bought a 3 wood and its has transformed my game massively i hit 2 drives in last nights round straight as an arrow at around the 240 yd mark! ive not hit a slice or fade since i bought it!
just a suggestion and it doesnt have to cost a lot i decided to get a 3 wood after trying my friends 5 pound bargain basement special!
good luck anyway

Re: hello to everyone

Hello;
This might sound to simple but I have seen it work a number of times including myself. Try open up the club face a little more and swing straight through instead of across your body. You may be causing the slice with a closed up face. Who knows. Or cheat and put a little chap stick on the face of the driver.

Re: hello to everyone

Another thing to try is choking down on your driver a little so it's about the same length as a 3 wood. This should allow you to make more solid contact with your driver and more consistency.
