Hello from new member in UK

Hope to gain some useful tips from fellow golfers.

As a senior player and still in full time employment I am finding it difficult to spend as much time on the golf course as I would like

so I am having to spend an odd hour here and there at the range.
The ranges that are available only have mats to play off and although I find it easy to hit from these mats as soon as I get onto grass a decent strike of the ball is very infrequent.

Advice please.
