| swatting Dear fellow golf lovers: I have worked hard on my game for the past year, studing the physics of the golf swing. I am fairly athletic, but 59 years old. Some back problems. My irons are fairly straight, but I only hit my 5 iron about 150 yds. My woods are about the same, hitting my 3 wood about 200 yds. My driver is out of control. I make good contact, but I never know if I am going to pull it or slice it. After much research, I have determined that I am swatting at the ball. Meaning, that I cannot keep my right wrist cupped at impact! I have tried many drills to remedy this, but the swing feels so awkward trying to keep the right wrist cupped at impact. I am getting a good weight shift to my right leg on the take back, by head is behind the ball, and I am shifting my hips forward on the downswing getting my weight on the left leg. Yet I end up releasing my right wrist sideways sometimes too early, or too late, causing a slice or hook. Does anyone have a solution to my problem. thanks jellyrol ![]() |
