| Long Irons Hello, I just joined this site in hopes to get good advice on my golf game. I have been golfing for about 4 years now and still have trouble getting distance on my irons, epsecially my long irons. I don't feel comfortable setting up to the ball anymore. How far should my feet be apart, how far should the club be from body as I set up to the ball, is it o.k. to bend my right arm (Lefty) on my back swing. If anyone has videos they can attach that I can view or ideas please feel free to submit. That is why I joined the site. Thanks |

I'm sure there are others better qualified than me to talk you through set-up. I was wondering if you'd tried replacing your long irons with hybrids? I've replaced my 3/4 irons with same loft hybrids (in my case 20/23 deg). I've found these easier to hit - and in fact quite often i don't bother carrying the 3 as i also have an 18* hybrid (i don't carry a 5 wood). I know some will argue that this is a quick fix and you're not learning to strike the ball properly but even tour players are losing their long irons now ( I know Padraig Harrington has replaced his 3 iron). Good luck Matt |
