Hi everyone,

New here. Just thought I'd say hello.

I'm a high handicapper but I'm on a mission to get lower. This time next year, I want to be approaching single figures. I'm not going to have much money this year I think.

Congrats to Tiger for winning the British Open. Hoylake looked tough this year. Beautiful course though, and I hope the American contingent here enjoyed it as much as we did.

Well, time for me to start picking up some tips.

Luckily (or not) I'm from middleton (north manchester in between Oldham, Rochdale, Bury and Manchester).

Got the fantastic Manchester and North Manchester Golf courses as well as Blackley and Heaton Park Muni on my doorstep. I'm a member of Castle Hawk, which is a small ish club near Rochdale. It serves my purpose at the mo which is to improve my game. Will look to become a member of Blackley next year.

im from swinton i play manor at kearsley, heaton park and blackley as a guest. be careful before joining a club if you domt want to enter comps at blackley you wont get on course at weekends

I,m from Irlam . I am a member of Boysnope park golf club.
I have played Heaton Park on a number of occasions and always find it a trek
One of my work mates and regular playing partner lives in Blackely.

I definately want to enter comps. I'm a competitor by nature. I just lack the ability at the mo' to destroy everyone, but I'll get there.

Will be entering my first comp at castle hawk next month. I've seen a few of the "better" players there, and I don't think they're that far ahead of me in terms of flair and ability, its just that they have been playing for years. Hopefully I won't embarrass myself too much.

I'm a new member myself and i'm still finding my way around.
When i was learning golf , i always tried to play with people who were better than me. i felt it made me concentrate better on my shots and i always managed to pick up a tip or two from the low handicappers.

i only mentioned blackley because a workmate joined this to play social golf at the weekend but cant because of sat and sun comps
