I am new to this sport i have clubs and have been attempting to play at an executive course in my neighborhood. I have taken pointers from my golfer friends but still have not had a lesson. Is it impossible to play well without a lesson from a pro?

Unless you have pretty good talent and skill it will be hard to play well without come knowledge about the golf swing and fundamentals.

hi jessica
if you take a couple of lessens it will stop you getting some bad faults that will be harder to remove later when you get better. its like driving a car its ok for a friend to help you but a few lessons stop the faults. learn the fundementals, hogans book "the modern fundementals of golf" is a good start for your grip and stance and posture and the parts of the swing.
how well do you play and hit a ball ???
