Hi from Bonnie Scotland

Why oh why did it take me 50 years to discover golf ? Have taken it up over the last few months and it's opened up a whole new life to me ! New friends, new challenges, fresh air and a bloody good walk ruined at times as the famous saying goes.

Managed 3 pars and a birdie today on my 5th game....... along with the usual 7and 8s associated with beginning ! Best day of my life !

Rather spoilt where I live.... between Carnoustie and St Andrews, but a while before I will walk any of them with confidence !

So a big hello to you wherever in the world you may be.....

MIKE

Re: Hi from Bonnie Scotland

the birdie was a 'fluke', but it won me the match. I was 2 up with 3 to play and hit 2 'good' shots to get within about 8 yards of the green and about 12 from the hole. I chipped using a 7 iron and totally overhit it.... but the line was superb, hit the pin and in it popped with me nearly doing a double somersault. I'd won the match and then was informed I had hit my first birdie.

The 17th and 18th were disasters taking 6 to get to the greens..... but hey...... ain't that life/golf ?

Yes, results are good for such a short time playing, but put that down to some good lessons and not taking everybody elses advice other than the pro's until I get to grips with the basics.
