| Hi to all, please heeeellpppp! Has anyone got a really good cure for a horrible slice? Been playing about a year and playing off 22, so not doing too bad really. I play well, for my standard, with all the clubs in my bag upto the driver and I just cannot hit that thing straight whatever I do .I try and use the same swing for all clubs, but to no avail. Seems sad to have 2 great drivers (Nike sasquach and Callaway 454 Ti) and not be able to drive them as far as my Cobra HS9 3 wood. I will only hit perhaps 1 drive out of every 10 straight'ish with a driver. I have tried to strengthen the grip, but no joy. Any ideas please?? Thanks |

| Hi, I have played golf for over 30 years, I'm 41, at various times and levels and have always suffered with a slice from the tee, and pushing my irons right of the green. I play off 16 so ok! I decided to aim for the left rough and cut it back to the fairway at first! This worked great until I hit one straight then it was bye-bye ball! Reload and 3 off the tee! I then decided to hood (close) the clubface and had decent success until again I hit a straight one and then in was even more left with a draw, great to watch in the air until I never found them! So finally I swallowed my pride and went to a local reccommended PGA Pro Teacher. £12.50 for a half hour is very reasonable and after just 2 weeks bye bye slice and hello fairways and some greens in regulation! No more overswinging, no more slapping the ball and now I am confident that I will be off single figures by next year and I would reccommend that you spend an hour a week with your Pro for a few months until the old habits are forgotten! I now can't wait for my next round of golf 5 minutes after I finish one! Good Luck - John Quote:

| Re: Hi to all, please heeeellpppp! The problem: One million and one things cause a slice. The solution: Identify your thing(s). For me, I have two main causes. Cause one is rolling the forearms and fanning the clubface open during the takeaway. Then I simply don't rotate them back for impact. Open face relative to the path = slice ball. The solution? Keep the face shut (ie I don't roll my forearms). The other cause is standing a touch too far from the ball. I then reach and get my weight over my toes. During my swing, my weight centers itself (or I'd fall over) and I get a sweeping out to in path with my face square or closed to target (yet still way open to the path). The solution is to ensure I'm balanced and relaxed at address. Find your cause and you can find your solution.
