Re: First post jitters Hi All Here we are 18 rounds later with an average of 115. Chipping and putting better now but I just can't stop slicing. This costs me at lease two shots on 12 out of 18 holes. I think I hit 2 straight drives per round. When I hit it straight I can normally par or bogie that hole. I've been to the pro, he's changed my grip which has helped with most shots except my 3 wood or driver. Perhaps I should just leave them at home. I've read most of the slice cure posts and I'm fairly consistant on the range.....even to the point of drawing some of my irons. But put a driver in my hands on the course and it all goes pear shape......or banana shape should I say. Is it me? Or is their anyone out there who's beaten this problem Emporio ![]()

Re: First post jitters Based on some recent learning, you may want to consider shortening your driver. The longer your driver is, the more OTT you may end up being in an attempt to swing it.

im playing a 44" driver and hitting the sweetspot more consistently |

Re: First post jitters To some degree it's no surprise, slats. A longer club takes more strength to control and the forces acting on the clubhead are that much greater. It's not a direct analogy, but I like this one anyway: It's easier to put the flag back in the cup holding the middle of the shaft vs the flag end. It's all about the fulcrum on the lever, and where it's at.

Re: First post jitters Not you, monkeyman - Emporio! My point, Emporio, was that you don't have to hit your driver straight and far in order to score reasonably well (in our terms). I'm currently playing off 19.6 and I usually don't carry my driver on my home course, and rarely use it away from home, relying on my hybrids the vast majority of the time. Try a round with just irons - as you suggest, leave your woods in the car and see what happens. You might be pleasantly surprised...

Re: First post jitters Wow guys Thanks for the reponses. Cure the slice first...............hopefully the 95 will come after. I'll try leaving the woods in the car.............no the garage and play with irons only next outing. I won't hacksaw the driver yet!!! Emporio ![]()
