Greetings from the heartland of Canada - Saskatchewan, that is ! I am mid-fifties and over the last number of years I have found myself on a golf course about 1.5 times per year. I have, until now never owned a set of clubs and have never used the same set twice . I have played other stick and ball sports in my lifetime and done well, but have often said 'golf just isn't my game', even though I like the sport. This summer, three weeks ago, I went out with my boss, his son and another co-worker, used an ancient set of Spalding clubs my boss loaned me. As usual, I was pathetic, but we did all have a good time together. However... I am tired of embarassing myself every time I go golfing. Soooo.... it's time to do something about the situation. I live in a part of the country where beautiful, affordable golf courses are anywhere from 5 minutes to 2hrs away and I am starting to realize I ought to take advantage of that also. Since the round with the boss, I have purchased a used driver and 4 wood, a used 21 degree hybrid, a used putter, and was given an older set of irons by the pro at the shop where I bought the other items. I also purchased a new carry bag (at over 60% discount) and a new pair of Adidas shoes (at 50% discount). Good deals are to be had near the end of the season, so I am finding. I have gone out to the driving range a few times, and have gone out to play 9 holes on two occasions, also have searched for golf instruction sites like this one and have actually improved a bit from what I have learned so far . Looking forward to more.
